Spring Cleaning Tips
There really is no better feeling than starting off your day on a fresh foot. This is why spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to go above and beyond the everyday clean-up. This can be a daunting task to undertake, but it’s worth taking time out of your busy schedule to rid yourself of the dust, dirt and grime that accumulates over the cold winter months. We have created a list of tips and tricks to help motivate you to get started!
Make a List:
Spring Cleaning can be intimidating, especially when you have large spaces to clean such as offices, warehouses or your whole home. Making a list is a great way to ensure that your spring clean up is less intimidating. Break your tasks down to make them more manageable for yourself. If you can see a clear outline of what you need to get done, it’s highly motivating. Especially when you start ticking items off the list! Having a list is useful because it removes the cognitive load of having to remember everything you’ve wanted to accomplish. This gives you the option to focus on what needs to be done to ensure you really complete the cleaning you’ve been putting off for months.
Timeline:
After making a list, create a timeline for yourself. Don’t let clean up drag on and on, because you’ll never complete your spring cleaning goals if that is the case. Timelines are imperative in helping motivate you into actually starting the job, and leading you to completion. Set a goal that is in reach and achievable for yourself. Trying to fit too much into your schedule will not be beneficial. Set a timer, put away distractions, have a goal in mind and be productive. The more productive and efficient you are, the faster you’ll complete your spring clean.
Declutter:
Spring cleaning is the perfect time to rid your space of clutter you can live without. Decluttering your space will help reduce stress in the long run. Eliminate unnecessary items during your spring clean this year. Start by getting rid of the stuff you no longer use, care about or would miss. If you don’t love it, toss it. This is a great way to force you into deciding what’s actually important to you. You will feel refreshed and at ease once getting rid of items that no longer serve their purpose. Trust us when we say, it’s worth it. If you don’t want to toss items, consider donating them or giving them to charity. This will leave you with an all-around feeling of accomplishment.
The Places You Forget:
Aside from general cleaning, there are a few key areas that tend to get overlooked within office spaces and homes. Ensure you take the time to clean areas that haven’t been done in a while. Yes, it takes more time and effort but why avoid it?
Items such as doorknobs, elevator buttons, plants, electronics, and even fans are found in main areas where you converse daily, but often tend to be left in the dust, literally! A lot of these spaces hold a lot of germs and bacteria. We suggest cleaning these spaces to avoid the spread of potential illness that can be caught or spread all because of these areas.
After all is said and done, you will feel fulfilled and accomplished when your spring clean is complete. It’s the fresh start everyone needs this time of year. Now all you have to do is execute a weekly clean up routine because if you do, next year’s clean up won’t be so major. Don’t forget to reward yourself when it’s done!
